Family Martial Arts Fights On!

Since July 2021, adults and children have been working out together at Wednesday afternoon’s Family Martial Arts classes in the community centre. Delivered in partnership with Active Together, these sessions were extended from one to two hour long classes due to popularity and now see 32 attendees every week.

Family Martial Arts is a martial arts-based fitness session designed for parents and carers to squeeze in a workout with their children on the way home from school. Free to attend, term time only and promoted to local residents with school age children, the HIIT style classes support local families to bond and grow their social networks while improving their fitness and health outcomes at a critical time in a child’s development.

Active Together have come to the end of their funding cycle, which meant that the classes were due to finish this month.

We’re really pleased to report that Lambeth Council have stepped in with funding for 2022-23, meaning that classes will continue with the return of schools from January 2023. Our sincere thanks to the Youth and Play team at Lambeth for this wonderful news!

If this sounds like something you’re interested in, please do join us at 4 or 5pm on Wednesday afternoons from January during term time in the Community Centre.
