Breathe Melodies: Singing for Mental Health

This summer, Breathe Melodies for Mums was delighted to deliver a 10-week programme at Myatts Fields North Community Centre, bringing together 20 local mums and their babies, including one very special set of triplets!

Breathe Melodies for Mums is a science-backed creative health programme that uses group singing to support mothers experiencing low mood, anxiety or with a postnatal depression diagnosis. The sessions provide a welcoming space where mums can take time for themselves, feel empowered, connect with others in their community and find their voices. They don't need any musical experience or to have a "good" singing voice - we sing together for connection not perfection!

We have been so happy to be based in the heart of the Myatts Fields community, and it has been wonderful to see friendships grow and supportive networks develop over the programme.

The impact of the sessions is best captured by the mums themselves. One participant described it as “a life-changing experience I'm so lucky to have been part of.” Another shared that it provided “a moment to catch my breath, ground myself and lift my spirits with the most lovely people.”

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped create such a warm, supportive and joyful group. We look forward to continuing to support local families in the Myatts Fields community.
