We’ve noticed that we are often getting the same enquiries, so we thought we’d answer Gill & Portia’s Top Ten Frequently Asked Questions! Here goes…

1.      When are you open? SIX DAYS A WEEK! Our opening hours are:

Tuesday 7.30am-3pm

Wednesday – Friday 7.30am – 4pm

Saturday 9am – 4pm

Sunday 10am-3pm

As there’s only two of us, we take a few breaks, throughout the year, attached to the school holidays (when it’s quieter at the café ). Easter – 1 week,  Summer - 2 weeks and Christmas - 2 weeks. There are notices on the café door upcoming breaks.

2.      What type of food do you serve? British Café style food with International offerings on our Specials

3.      Are you dog friendly? We love dogs, but as we have an open kitchen we ask that you keep your pup outside – just tap on the side window or stand at the door and we will come and take your order!

4.      What food do you have for children? We can scale down most of our menu options for children – just let us know 😊

5.      Do you do halal/ vegan/ vegetarian options? YES! YES! & YES!

6.      Do you take cash and card? Yes – we’ll even take a bank transfer if you’re really stuck, just give us ya money!!!! – JOKE (sort of 😉)

7.      Can I work from the café? Café customers are welcome to work from the café. The centre has Wi-Fi, however there is only one plug socket, so make sure your laptop is fully charged.

8.      Why are you called Home Grown?
We started our catering business from Portia’s family HOME and have GROWN it from there.

9.      Are you hiring? Not at the moment but sometimes when we do events we ask for volunteers, so please let us know if you would like us to put you on our volunteers list.

10. Can we book? You can usually just walk in, however if you have a group of 5 or over it’s better to WhatsApp us for availability. Our busiest times are usually Friday to Sunday from 11:30am- 2pm
