Replacing Failed Light Bulbs

AdobeStock_131098213.jpeg

Several residents have recently been reporting electrical faults after replacing failed “light bulbs” with LED replacements.  When the lamp is installed it can flicker or it may work for a short time and then stop.

In most of these cases it is down to the lamp choice being made.  LED lamps purchased from market stalls and some hardware shops are usually poorly made imported lamps which simply do not work properly and could, in some instances, be dangerous to use.

We would advise that any lamps bought are from reputable companies such as Philips, GE (General Electric) etc.  These lamps will have had stringent quality control during manufacture and will give a far superior light output and longevity of life (saving you more money in the long term) compared to the cheap imported lamps.

Electricity can kill and can cause fires.  If you do suspect that there is a problem with your electrical installation, please call the repairs line on 0800 085 1230 as soon as possible.
