Supporting Our Residents: A Success Story for Bob the Bus Driver

Good news from our Income Team, who found themselves at the heart of a sensitive family moment: 

As an Income Collection Team, we understand that life’s big moments can sometimes make managing finances a challenge. Recently, we worked with Bob, a hardworking local bus driver, to resolve a difficult situation involving his elderly mother’s rent arrears, which she had been finding increasingly hard to cope with alone.

Ben was unaware that his mother’s rent arrears had built up to £2,000, but as soon as we reached out to explain the situation, he was incredibly proactive. He explained that his family had been focused on some life-changing news - the arrival of his twin daughters! Between his busy shifts on the road and adjusting to life with newborns, the missed payments had simply gone under the radar.

Once the situation was clear, Bob apologised for the oversight, and we successfully negotiated a repayment plan to secure his mother’s tenancy. He made an immediate initial payment to kickstart the recovery and committed to steady weekly instalments until the balance was fully cleared.

Bob mentioned how thankful he was for the consideration and empathy the team showed his family during such a hectic time. It was a fantastic outcome: the arrears were settled, the stress was lifted from his mother, and Bob could get back to focusing on his new arrivals.
